There’s No Fighting on Easter

There’s No Fighting on Easter…

My immediate family is not a religious one.  My family background is mostly Methodist but I myself have never settled on any one denomination.  I didn’t grow up going to church consistently nor did we have any clear tradition on Easter.  I remember going to my grandparents in Garden City, SC and doing egg hunts with all the grand-kids on the street.  It was fun but the older we got, the less we observed it.

A few years ago, I met my smart ass match.  I was in the market to buy a car and met Will at our local Nissan dealership.  Besides being very easy on the eyes…he was one of the coolest people I’d ever met.  We talked about all kinds of stuff, clicked like we’d been friends for years and honestly…I didn’t realize I had bought a car until I drove away with it.  The best part about meeting Will was his now wife, Peach.  Really…I feel in love with both of them and we just clicked…soul mates.

Will and Peach

Will and Peach are from New York, so when we decided to have Easter dinner at my moms, I invited them.  We got dressed up in the dresses and did the Easter thing.  Will and I especially HOUND each other.  Like he’s my brother and can’t get enough of picking on me.  And I roll with the punches.  We were just going on and on until my mom finally had enough of us being mean to each other.  Thus the “No Fighting on Easter” rule was born.

The reason I think this is so cool is that when you have friends like that…you make some of the most amazing memories.  Sure, it’s a stupid little rule…but if nothing else…since they’ve moved away…on every Easter I make sure to send them a text to remind them not to fight on Easter.  Memories like these with your friends are important and should be cherished.  These memories keep you together and put things into perspective.

Especially now, I hope that Will and Peach know how much I adore them and miss them and I promise…not to ever…fight…on Easter.  🙂

  1. I love this rule! Easter is a great time for families to get together and make memories, and this is a great reminder to enjoy the time and not fight. Thanks for sharing with Hump Day Happenings.
